A Business Computing degree is designed to help you advance your career in mind. Alongside studying the breadth of Information Technology (electronic office, programming, databases and multimedia) you will also be taught the essential areas of business like management and marketing, accounting economics, finance and accounting. This will give you the ability and understanding to study and develop computer systems that can meet business’s requirements.
You will learn about the fundamental computing concepts like data analysis and software development. You will also acquire knowledge in areas of business like management, consulting, and IT operations. You will also develop broader skills that employers look for in IT professionals like teamwork and leadership.
We have strong links with industry and you will be able to work on real-world briefs and participate in a work placement. You will be able to experience first-hand the ways how a modern company makes use of IT and you can develop your own solutions that assist in solving real-world issues.
Many graduates of this course are able to move into a role that requires the combination of IT and business skills, such as a project manager or software developer. Others choose to work for companies such as banks and insurance companies, or create their own business with their IT and vocational skills. Some opt to work in the grey area between IT and business roles such as IT security officer or IT consultant.
